Professor Zou Zongliang was born in April 1958in the city of Zibo, Shandong Province. He graduated from the then (now the School of Literature) of Shandong University in 1988 with an MA in Ancient (Traditional) Chinese Literature. Professor Zou previously served as a Teaching Assistant, and Lecturer in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Shandong University, as well as Associate Editor, and Editor, of Shandong University Press. Since 2004, he has been a Professor in thethe School of Literature and Journalism (now School of Literature) of Shandong University. He is a Thesis Advisor for MA students. He is mainly engaged in the teaching and research of the field of Ancient (Traditional) Chinese Literature in the Ming and Qing dynasties. He has published dozens of scholarly papers and articles in the area of research on ancient (traditional) Chinese literature in publications such as Our Literary Legacy, Wen-Shi-Zhe (A Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy) and Research on Traditional Texts and Documents. Many of Professor Zou’s published papers have appeared as reprints in theDigest of Traditional and Modern Chinese Literaturepublished by The People’s University’s Reprints of Newspaper and Periodical Materials. Professor Zou’s major scholarly writings and publications include, among others, the following:
· A Collection of Vernacular Songs in Liaozhai(Strange Stories from A Chinese Studio), (with Annotations);
· Annotations for Tales of Romances for the Awakening of the Age, (co-authored with Professor Yuan Shishuo);
· Heroes and Outstanding Historical Figures of Qi and Lu: A Book Series,(co-edited with Professor Ren Jiyu and Professor QiaoYoumei et al.);
· Today in Shandong History (co-edited with Mr. Shi Lianquan, Research Associate);
· Reading Guide to Required Reading Classics and Masterpieces of Chinese Literature for Secondary Education (Junior Middle School edition and Senior Middle School edition, co-edited with Professor Zheng Xunzuo).
