Professor Pang Shouying wasborn in January 1948. She graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Shandong University in 1973. She currently holds the rank of Professor at Shandong University in the School of Literature. Her primary research field is contemporary Chinese novels. Professor Pang has authored and published a significant number of scholarly works, including:
· “On the Sense of Tragedy in the Creation of Novels in Recent Years”, (an article)
· On the Matter of Stylistics in Novels of the New Era, (a monograph)
· Rethinking the Past, and Exploring the Future: Miscellaneous Discourses on Contemporary Chinese Literature, (a monograph)
· The Spiritual Orientation of Literature in the New Period, (a monograph)
· A Thematic Collection of Writings on Studies of the Full-Length Novels, (co-authored)
· Studies of Novels That Focus on the Subject of Reform and Open-Up Policy, (co-authored)
· The Spirit of Chinese Contemporary Literature, (co-authored).
Professor Pang won a Liu Xie Prize for Literary Criticism in Shandong province in the first year of the prize, and then again in the fourth year. She has also won a Level-2 Prize for Outstanding Achievement in the Social Sciences in Shandong Province, as well as a Level-2 Prize in Outstanding Achievement in the Social Sciences at Shandong University.
Professor Pang has offered many courses for undergraduates and graduate students, including: "History of Contemporary Chinese Literature", " Appreciation of Literature in the New Era", "Research in Novels of the New Era", "Research Studies of the Styles of Contemporary Novels", "A Research Course on the Hottest Topics in Contemporary Literature Studies". She has received a Level-2 Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching conferred by Shandong University.
