Professor Gong Pengcheng, whose ancestral lineage hails fromJi'anxian, Jiangxi Province, was born in Taipei (Taibei) in 1956. A scholar of world renown, he is currently a Professor at Shandong University holding a chair as a Special Lecturer. He has served as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts of Tamkang[Danjiang] University, and Founding President of Nanhua University and FoGuang University in the region of Taiwan, and well as President of Eurasia University in the United States. Since 2004, he has served as a professor at many universities, including Beijing Normal University, Qinghua University, and Beijing University. Committed to the study of Chinese scholarship and Chinese culture, Professor Gong’s work and endeavors involve the study of Chinese literature, comparative studies of China and the West, among other subjects. He applies himself diligently to writing and publishing and has authored approximately a hundred works, including the following monographs: Fifteen Lectures on China’s Traditional Culture; On the History of Chinese Poetry and Songs;A History of Chinese Literary Criticism; Talks on the Art of Calligraphy; and Gong Pengcheng Discusses Scholarship.
