Professor Ma Longqian, born in July 1945, is from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Shandong Universityin 1982, and holds an MA degree in Literature. He is currently a Professor at the School of Literature of Shandong University, a Dissertation Advisor for PhD students, the academic leader in the area of Basic Aesthetics and Literary Aesthetics of the academic discipline of Literature and Art at Shandong University, a National Key Academic Discipline, and Associate Director of the Research Center for Literary and Artistic Aesthetics of Shandong University, a Key Research Base of the Ministry of Educationin the Humanities and Social Sciences. Professor Ma is an expert who enjoys special government subsidies from the State Council. In addition to his academic positions at Shandong University, Professor Ma is also a member of the Chinese Writers Association, a Director of the Chinese Socialist Literary Association, and aVice President of the National Association for Research in Mao Zedong’s Thought on Literature and Art. Professor Ma is primarily engaged in the teaching and research of the foundational theories in philosophical aesthetics and literary aesthetics, Marxist aesthetics and literary theory, Chinese-Western comparative aesthetics, and contemporary literary criticism. He has published many academic monographs such as Introduction to Practical Construction Aesthetics, Introduction to Contemporary Aesthetic Concepts in Literature and Art, Concept and System Architecture of Subjective and ObjectiveConstructionist Scholarship in Literature and Art, as well as more than a hundred academic articles and scholarly papers. For his research publications and writings Professor Ma has won prizes and awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Social Sciences in Shandong Province many times, the Liu XiePrizefor Literary Criticism in Shandong Province, and the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research in Institutions of Higher Education in Shandong Province.
