Hu Youfeng was born in March 1977, and hails from Jinzhai xian, Anhui Province. He formerly served as a professor at Wenzhou University. He graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Zhejiang University in 2007 with a Ph.D in Literature and Art. In the same year, he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor by exception to the conventional standards and norms, and in similar fashion he was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2011. Professor Hu has published more than 70 papers in a variety of academic and scholarly journals such as Literary Review, Studies in Literary Theory, and Foreign Literature, including more than fifty in CSSCI journals. Many of Professor Hu’s articles have been reprinted in Xinhua Digest, Chinese Social Sciences Abstracts and other similar publications. He has published two academic monographs, and has supervised as well as completed many research projects sponsored by the National Foun dation for the Social Sciences and/or by the Ministry of Education’s Foundation for the Humanities and the Social Sciences. In 2010, he was selected as one of the “Outstanding Back-Bone Young Teachers” of Zhejiang Province. In 2011, he was selected as one of the “Zhijiang Young Social Scientists” of Zhejiang Province. In 2012, he was selected as a member of the Tier-2 “151 Talents” of Zhejiang Province. In 2014, he was selected as one of the top young talentsin the “A Million People Plan” of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
